I-VI-IV-V is called counter change. You heard it a lot in those crazy, lazy, harmonized 50's.

More well known uses of that progression are songs like Earth Angel and Dream (Everly Brothers) and countless others. It was re-popularized temporarily in the '70's with 'Daddy's Home', but that may have been a cover of an earlier tune. It's may also be a jazz standard progression and I believe Blue Moon represents one well-known use of it in that way.

I've always called it the Duke of Earl progression. I don't think there's any Latin music theory label for it, or anything.

However, today... we are really in shit... power chordss..uh 2 notes... and speed scales now dat's art! Listen to most of the Hip Hop stuff... two chords... no resolutions and the beats are mostly 60 and 70's R&B rip offs... Mind you it's not a put down, just a fact..

Anyway, it may be too late to save myself from fflames and rants, but my point is that Rock has always been a simple art form and that is its beauty.. Raw, edgy for its time, provokative, rebellious and earthy...

Just my 2 cents
