I don't own one but I've played a number. Occasionally you find one that feels so solid and sounds so good that you doublecheck the headstock. I'd like to know if these are specific models or just the luck of the draw.

Also (OT), Is there such a thing as Fat and Thin bodied Strats? Japanese Fenders always seem thinner, noticable on the upper bout. Yet a lot of Squires I've played seem 'fat '.

They tend to be specific models - in particular the *JV* series - check the serial number... if it starts with JV and the headstock says 'Squier by Fender' (or somesuch) then these are widely regarded to be, in the main, pretty stunning guitars. You'll always get a couple made late on Friday afternoon, mind you, no matter what.

To be perfectly honest, the JV models are pretty much regarded as superior to the *genuine* Fender Strats from the same era (early '80s).
