To make a short story long, my cable is out (big deal) so instead of THe History Channel and other shows, I only have local broadcast TV. I ended up watching a few flavors of CSI - * and I guess the current seasons (for those I watched anyway) are using 'Who Are You?' for the intro to the opening credits. I used to play a lot of The Who (on vinyl, not on my guitar). It occured to me that these days in theory I should be able to 'cover' just about any guitar based rock song with today's modeling software.

What is the absolute best modeling software for a Windows PC? Ideally it would have a database where I could just call up 'Who Are You? by The Who' and get something really close to the axe and rig used for that recording. Is there a Windows product on the consumer market that can do this?

I use Adobe Audition and Cakewalk Guitar Tracks Pro which support VST plug-ins. A separate application is fine if that is what I need.

Native Intruments 'Guitar Rig' is the most useable one I've heard so far. Of course, a great set of monitors is needed to appreciate it..
