Best shops in East Anglia for Electric Guitars?

Hi,

I'm actually posting this for my brother who's the guitar 'fan'. He's coming to the UK for about 2 weeks and will be in the East Anglia region and would like to know if there are any really good (well stocked) shops that sells guitars... and drums... preferably at cheap/reasonable prices. I've seen him ordered 2nd hand guitars from the USA before so I guess he's open to 2nd hand stuff too.

I'm not a musician and know nuts about guitars so would appreciate any tips from you folks on where I can bring him to whet his appetite!

There's a great little place in Ipswich called 'The guitar shop' (simple folk in East Anglia, none of them thar fancy names)

No drums, though. As the name probably tells you.

Academy of Sound in Norwich was my shop of choice when I lived there. Ask for Giles Massingham or Scott - both good blokes.

Scott is no longer there altough the boy Greg is helpful. Matt at Cookes in St Benedict's Street, Norwich is knowledgable and helpful. Coda in Stevenage (I think?)seems to be one of this groups fave geetar shops.

If he's near Ipswich I have to vote for my local, the Guitar Shop - http://www.theguitarshop.co.uk/ - great shop, where you're welcome to select from the stock and disappear into the amp room for as long as you like.

In Colchester there's Trevor Durrant Guitars - http://www.tdguitars.com/ - which also has a good stock. Ive not had a good twiddle with their stock, but then Ive never asked. TD Guitars is in an industrial estate, right next to a large drum shop and a large keyboards shop.
