Heads up!

There's a person that goes by 'tifny' selling tubes on ebay. She claims her tubes test strong on her TV-7.

I bought what was supposed to be a matched quad of 7355. When they arrived, two tested LOW, and two tested BAD. This began the nightmare of seeking a refund.

One of the first things that she admits is that she doesn't even own a TV-7! She claims to be selling tubes for a third party.

It took initiating an eBay complaint and weeks of her not responding to emails before she agrees to an immediate refund of my money upon return of tubes. When I send the tubes back, she does NOTHING! I had to call and talk to her husband before she finally sends the refund (one week later).

Now, I get NEGATIVE feedback that's full of lies. She claims I called her four times at 9:00 (not true) and the I 'burnt' the tubes and broke a guide pin, which are also LIES.

If you buy from this person, you've been warned!

Yeah I just bought a pair of tubes and though they test well the getter flashing is really thin (which supposedly is a sign of many many hours usage or leakage but the tester shows none) I've e-mailed the seller to inquire and am waiting to hear the explanation. It's a shot in the dark with NOS as for the negative just wait a few days until you put your response underneath it so it's calm and cool and I doubt anyone will hold it against you - bad negatives are those left by buyers saying - sold as new but was broken shipped in thin box no padding - once the the listing goes away in three months it looks real bad.

I was 100% honest with my negative feedback to her:

'Seller misrepresents tubes, doesn't even own a TV-7, HORRIBLE

Sorry to hear about this, Jim. From your long history of posting here you seem like a stand-up guy and I believe your story. It looks to me like this seller mostly sells tubes, so I think it's interesting that she treated you this way since she has pretty good feedback. One would think that part of maintaining good customer relations and feedback would be to admit to mistakes and trying to make good on them. It sounds like she made a mistake on your order and couldn't deal with it. I'm surprised they've been getting away with it for this long.

One red flag I see on their ad, though, is the clause about 'Item Sells As Non-Refundable'. I wouldn't touch an ad that says this. I'll also avoid an ad like this one that is written in such barely-comprensible English. I see that as a sure sign of idiocy or lazinesss, both signs of potential trouble.

I've had a couple of bad experiences on ebay, and I'm reluctant to buy anything else on there that's worth more than a few dollars. I've got several guitars, amps, etc. that I want to sell, but I'm trying to do it locally rather than deal with flakey or dishonest sellers, shipping, and quality issues.

It wasn't a mistake. She lied about the condition of the tubes, and LIED in the feedback that she left for me.

I thought it was low risk, based on her feedback. I'm learning that you should pay attention to even a SMALL negative rating! BTW, you cannot save yourself with a 'non-refundable' disclaimer if you intentionally misrepresent your items. She tried this. When I called her on it, she refunded, then RETALIATED with the false info and negative feedback.

I wouldn't touch an ad that says this. I'll also

Preamps, power amps, etc., but no guitars at this time. I'm even thinking about parting with one of my Hiwatt/Fane 4x12's, but I dread trying to ship it!

1. The fact that she couldn't spell 'Tiffany' should have been a tip-off. 2. Be sure to post a link or FS prices, because I'm interested in your H&K box.

Believe it or not Jim, I've found the easiest and cheapest way to send guitar cabs is via Greyhound. You might want to give them a call to find out the size limitations. Its really reasonably priced though.

Thanks for the tip! Hiwatt cabs are in huge demand. One sold recently for over two grand. Newer ones seem to regularly go for 700 to 900. It's a market demand sort of item, and I'd prefer to open the sale to a wider base than just local.

BTW, I told my wife I was thinking about selling them. She often complains about the sheer volume of my gear. She said 'are you sure that you don't want to keep at least one?' It won't be hard for her to talk me out of selling them, so now I'm rethinking. It's just that they never leave the house, and these things deserve to be gigged. ...on the other hand, they'll do nothing but appreciate in value.
