anyone have one of these on their Strat? like it?

does it truly make that much world of a difference in tone/presence/sustain/etc?

i'm thinking of getting one for my Deluxe Powerhouse Stratocaster with the American vintage sized bridge & potmetal sustain block..

Yes and I loce it. Wouldn't hesitate to buy another if I needed one.

Yes, should notice a big difference. Extremely well made.

Sounds like a good plan to me.

so it's that significant of a change for the better?

cool. What model Strat do you have that you installed the Callaham block into? what type sustain block did it have before the upgrade?

im just now printing out the order form to fax in the order. the bridge looks great too. wouldn't mind having that but gotta use the $ to pay off other gear purchases

tone/presence/sustain/etc?

The cheaper the block the bigger difference you'll notice. I put one originally in a alder bodied MIM Standard (I upgraded the saddles at the same time to a set of Graphtech Ferraglides) and the tone of the guitar was absolutely night and day. I recently acquired a 1995 American Standard Strat, and loaded it with a Callaham, the difference was still noticeable, however not nearly as dramatic. This could in part also be attributed to the fact that the MIA strat already has a stainless steel block type saddle and was not upgraded from the stamped type used in the MIM.

I have just purchased a new American Series Strat and fully intend to swap out the block. (I've been on a strat tear up recently... what can I say?)

Others have that the difference is more pronounced on the MIA if you float your bridge. I deck mine, because I don't like working against the bridge when I bend... but there's a certain sonic characteristic that the Callaham brings to the table that I just don't hear with the stock block. A fuller, rounder, more bell like quality... it really comes out when playing clean. Totally lost with heavy distortion.

You should be able to return it if you don't dig it. Let us know how it

I put a Callahan steel trem block in my MIM Strat. The strat had a cast zinc trem block.

It made a big difference.

Me too. About 3 weeks ago.

As has been said, I'm not sure how much difference it made with distortion, because I only have this one guitar I can't do an A/B comparison, but I think it did wonders for the clean tone. 'Bell-like', as mentioned by a previous poster.

I thought it would add tons of sustain, but I don't think it really did... it may have increased sustain from 12 seconds to 14 or 15 seconds? Maybe. But during those same 12 seconds of sustain I think the sound is fuller longer.

My piece of crap '97 mexi strat has a poplar body that weighs less than 3 lbs and is made of 5 to 7 pieces- so that is why this guitar still doesn't sound amazing yet.

I would definitely buy the trem block.

I really like that the trem arm doesn't flop around, but stays in position because they make the threads so that the arm screws into the block pretty tight. Very nice!
