In New York? Most the the big music shops like Mannies and Sam Ash or on the street running parallel to Broadway about 2 blocks from Time Square (can't remember the name - 48th Street?) There's a bunch of others their but, to be honest, they're not that cheap.

In article

Duh! Not parallel to, at right angles to - all the 'streets' go left to right and all the 'avenues' go up and down.

It's E48th street.

They're bound to have cheaper Xmas stock in.

Also check Matt Umanov's store in Greenwich Village 273 Bleecker Street New York, N.Y. 10014

Cheers Ash

There are very few cheap guitars in NY. The guitar shops in W48th Street are worth a visit because of the wide range of accessories at good prices, but they are generally more expensive than outside Manhatten, and with NY state and city sales taxes to pay (+VAT & duty on the whole amount when you bring them back into the UK) you will be lucky to get a bargain. Plus in Manny's and Sam Ash you will never get a chance to try a guitar in peace and quiet because of the twenty other people trying out guitars at the same time.

OTOH the last few times that I have been there I bought many sets of strings and lots of CD's which were much better value.
