Hi all,

I have a Trace Elliot Speed Twin C50 (yummy!) It has the option to be biased for various output valves i.e. 6L6,6550,5881,KT88. I'm currently using EL34's.

My question is this, what sonic differences (if any) would different output valves make?

I realise this is quite subjective but I was wondering whether to experiment or not!

Thanks,

Slightly askew answer for this question but the merits and sonic capabilities for these output valves are discussed in-depth over on http://univalve.net this is the forum board for the THD Univalve / Bi-Valve. These amps dynamically auto-bias themselves based on whatever output tubes are popped into them. You'll find your answers there.
