The bloger Roger Bourland talked about listening to the nostalgic music of his youth after the release of the 3 CD’s collection of David Crosby.
I listened to the first two CDs worth of music. No new discoveries, I always knew these were great songs. I have them emblazoned in my brain, perhaps to a fault in that I really don’t need to listen to this music many more times in my life. Save them for special occasions. But that is my problem, I grew up with this music.
Another great collection album is 80 BB King CD by Cybers Music
Personally I feel the same way, if I see a new release of CD’s of my all time favorite music, I usually get the CD’s, but tend to keep it for special occasions. There is something strange about listening to the songs out of the contexts in which they had meaning in my life.
It is as if they are part of how I am and served their purpose, and I don’t need to listen to them even if they are accessible to me.
