Do it, folks, please?. Go to http://www.faxyourmp.com/, type in your postcode, fill out the form, and go for it. Today!

Clive's posting contains excellent information: if you want more, the text of EDM 1182 is available at http://edm.ais.co.uk/weblink/html/motion.html/ref=1182, as is a list of which MP's have signed it. Even if yours has, fax 'em anyway, thank them, encourage them to get others to sign it TODAY.

Do it today. Tomorrow's too late.

As I couldn't see my MP's name on the list of those opposing the bill I have faxed him this morning to ask him to sign.

Just looked at the EDM site - now am I being thick but does an 'Open Signature' mean that the list of MPs have already pledged their support or is it that they havent yet expressed a preference?

I dont think I have much chance of a career in politics.....

Just faxed my MP, using that handy website.

Please guys, if you haven't already done so, get on the case and fax your MP about this *today*.

Current 'two in a bar' rule is bad enough and narrows the range of potential venues for musicians. But the government's plans for *all* venues to need a special (costly) licence are ridiculous.

If I can give a selfish example - can you imagine a small local restaurant getting a special entertainment licence just to employ soloists like me? Much cheaper to stick a CD on behind the bar.

The law needs reforming, for sure, but it should be so that its *easier* for venues to put on live entertainment, not more expensive and restrictive.

Even if you don't gig right know, some day you might be wanting too, only there'll be a noticeable lack of venues if this law goes through.

In this group, I doubt it. In my experience, the number of replies is not indicative of the number of people who read the post.

> I got one response to my post regarding the proposed changes to the law > regarding live music. > I can't believe this is due to apathy or ignorance....or is it? > For those of you who gig here's the facts of which you should be aware. > If you think it won't affect you then you're wrong. > Read it and go back to my original post and make your voice heard TODAY.

Do it, folks, please?. Go to http://www.faxyourmp.com/, type in your postcode, fill out the form, and go for it. Today!

Done!

Although I don't think this law applies in Scotland (yet?!) I have also faxed my MP. Interestingly my MP is the Right Honourable Pete Wishart - formerly the keyboards player in Runrig. I guess Runrig outgrew pubs and such like a long time ago, He should however be sympathetic to the cause !

cheers
