Hi Guy's
I was hoping some of you may have a few suggestions, and tell me if I'm on the right path with my EQ settings. I'm Currently running a Digitech Valve FX ( 4 band parametric ) in to a Peavey tube power amp then in to 2 quad boxes. Should sound good right? But half the time I feel my Peavey Bandit sounds better.
Metal sound......
From what I've tried and read, I should be running a pre distortion EQ set with some mid boost, right? ( I have a Roland GP8 I can use for this ) would any front end overdrive / distortion help?
I've got about a -7db cut on my mid at 2000hz with a Q of 2 ( bass is at 125hz, 1.25Q, +6... treble at 6300hz, 0.75Q, +5db.... presence at 10k, 2Q, +5 ) any suggestions on mid cut frequency / Q?
When I D.I. in to my PC for recording I get to much of the guitar cutting in to the sub frequency's <120hz should I fix this in the EQ settings on my rig, or roll off / high shelf it off in the mix?
Lead sound....
I'm guessing keep the sound about the same just less to no mid cut. any suggestions on mid EQ settings and pre distortion EQ settings?
Clean sound.
This is not so hard to get basically right, just a flat setting with a lot a tweaking to get all the strings sounding balanced, then add some bass / treble to taste. Will any front end EQ settings help? if so how should the EQ's be set? i.e., bass cut on the first EQ then boost on the second EQ? or visa versa?
So far I haven't even got around to trying some mild distorted guitar EQ settings so any suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks Guys
