Hi there,

I was just informed by Stew-Mac that they no longer carry the 'The Key' intonation tool for floyd rose and ibanez edge/lo pro edge bridges because they're no longer manufactured. Anybody know where I can buy one of these? Or anybody out there might be interested in selling theirs? I need the one that's made for ibanez edge bridge. Thanks.

Cheers,

The 'tool' was only good for the 'original' Floyd Rose, as it had to hook on top of the string clamp screws, and 'under' the lip where the fine tuners are locted. It was totally useless on all other, and more modern versions of the Floyd. It didn't work all that good on the original version either! Try AllParts, they may still have a few gathering dust.

Really? Why is that? Never tried one but it looks pretty neat. It's a bitch to loosen the strings over and over again when setting intonation. Btw, Stew-Mac sold 3 version of it, for the original floyd-rose, for the ibanez edge, and for the ibanez lo-pro edge. Allparts does carry them, but it's for the original floyd-rose version only. Thanks for the input.

Cheers,

To insert the tool required levering it under the lip of the bridge, and over the pin. This in effect 'sharps' the saddle by the thickness of the tool. Then it would slip off the string clamps hex head (if it wasn't really square at the shaft). Not entirely bad, but troublesome, tool. I still do my intonations (even Buzz Feiten) with the 'ol twisting screwdriver trick (being careful not to scratch).

I have one of those tools I bought from Stew Mac. 5 of my guitars have Original Floyds on them. Honestly that tool is not all that it's cracked up to be. The little thumb screw on it is not sufficient to counter the tension of the strings in tune. I broke mine . Like stripping out the handle of a screw driver. I guess the old school way is best.
