As some of you know, I recently purchased a Fender Stratocaster 50th anniversary guitar.

I tried to get most of the tape off of the pick guard. However, some of the tape still remains underneath the knobs.

Can anyone give me some suggestions on how to get this tape out from under those knobs?

The plastic cover was installed before the pots or knobs went on, most likely. So, you'll need to remove them to get it all off. The knobs pull straight up - you can gently lever them up with a spoon or tounge depressor if you need to. From there, you can probably pull off the rest of the plastic, or if you really need to, loosen the nuts holding the pots on (probably one at a time) to get it all off. Tighten and replace the knobs.

I usually wrap a shirt around and under the knobs and pull straight up.

If it's JUST on the pickguard, I'd recommend GOO GONE(avail at hardware stores and places like target). Just a little dab'll do ya! don't let it touch the finish as I have no idea what could happen. This stuff works great on getting sticky residue off of things.

Do NOT use Goo Gone.

This isn't tape on his pickguard. It's the protective plastic covering that Fender puts on the pickguards of their new guitars. And it'll come right off if you pull it.

The plastic was put on before the hardware, so in order to get the last bits off, you'll have to remove the knobs (and maybe some of the screws). Just pull the knobs off, remove the plastic, and put the knobs back.
