I have some Dean Markley acoustic steel guitar strings still in a pack from over 2 years ago. How long do guitar strings last , even when theyre in their original packs? (hope this doesnt sound dumb :o0 )

I owned a record store (pre cd's) in 1980 -1982. I sold strings. I recently found a few packages and put them on my acoustic. They are fine!!! I had some nice Diaddarios and some nice Martins and plan on using them all. Beats your two years!!!!

It isn't dumb. In fact, I've had mom and pop shop owners tell me they won't sell me a box of strings because '...they'll go bad on you...'. Bullshite. As long as they don't show any signs of corrosion they are fine. If they show signs of corrosion, move them someplace cool and dry and they'll be fine for the future.
