Excuse me, I am curious ... is there some historical reason for stomp boxes having their input on the right (at least, that is the case with the pedals I have), and not on the left (which would, it seems to me, make more sense as we'd say the likes of 'Guitar -> Comp -> Dist -> Mod -> Vol -> Amp'? And then, to top it all, all the amps I've owned and played have had inputs on the left, meaning that cables have to either run back along the pedals, or diagonally to the amp input.

Sorry, I am bored and just pondering pointless things.

I hope your day's going well.

How about this - Stomp boxes are usually positioned in front of a right handed guitarist. The guitar lead comes out at the right hand side of the guitar, therefore it doesnt have to cross the path of the player to get to the stomp box.

Amps - Same principle - the lead comes out of the right hand side of the guitarist, goes straight back to the left hand side of the amp behind him.

I drew a diagram for this but I havent got a scanner. so Naah

Thanks, BTW, for giving me something pointless to ponder whilst eating my lunch.

Extremely unlikely, as that would cause the music instrument industry to come dangerously close to catering seriously to the needs of the left handed guitarist.

But im not bitter.

I tried out something at band practice last night. Being a left-hander myself, I've always felt vaguely uncomfortable using my left foot to hit the stompboxes. So last night I put the stompboxes to one side of the mike stand, arranged to one side -vertically, rather than horizontally, and used my right root. Result : I feel a lot more comfortable doing it this way. I don't know why, probably something to do with being able to see them easier.

A mighty fine point, and well made to.

That would make sense (for me as a right handed player). Obvious really.

I can sleep easy now.

Roll on lunch time today.

Thanks
