I have had a Hohner Steinberger [1] for about 10 years. It was the first trem-equipped guitar I'd owned (yeah, really) and I assumed all trems were as stable - not so, as I later found out with a couple of Strats. Very versatile guitar, tonally - surprising considering how little wood there is. Comes in useful as a cricket bat, too.
It's also pretty indestructible, as I've discovered the hard way. The supplied soft case is flawed in that all the weight sits on the zip, which has burst many times. One time some friends were helping pack away after a gig, and I'd forgotten to warn them about the zip - which duly burst at the top of a flight of stairs. The guitar fell out and bounced all the way down - I thought 'oh well, that's the end of that then'. But we picked it up - checked it over - a couple of new dings, but it was fne - still in tune, even.
Nowadays I use it for slide - which is pretty dumb, since it means using the heaviest strings I can get (and double-ball end strings are tough to get in anything heavier than 10s), raising the action, and blocking off the trem. A bit of a waste, but sounds good.
