Hi all, I have a Fender Starfire semi-hollow. Today it started making a random hum, so I'd like to take a look at all the wiring to make sure all the connections are good, but how do I do that since there doesn't seem to be a way to get at the interior? How are the controls wired in on semi-hollows- is it done before the body pieces are pressed together? Thanks for any enlightment!

A flashlight and a dental mirror should be enough to tell you if you have any problems with the wiring. If you have to repair, tie fishing line or thin guitar strings to the individual pots and switches, fish out through the F-hole or pickup cavity (some semi's have a channel routed there) and then use the fishing line to pull the assembly back through.
It sounds easier than it is.
