I'm trying to find an estimate for the number of guitar players, owners or households with guitars in the US.
I've tried all the magazines (GP, Music Trades, etc.), and organizations (NAMM, GAMA, Gallup, etc.) to no avail. Nobody seems to have any idea!
Can anyone out there point me to a credible source for this info?

I once heard there 1,352 guitar pickers in Nashville. Not sure about the other cities. Good luck, Bobby. Love your books!

The answer is: Far too many.
Imagine what a lovely bonfire you Americans could have with all that maple and ebony going up in smoke. Especially all the boring over-rated and over-valued 50's and 60's fenders and gibsons!! Perhaps you can do us in the civilized world a favour and expedite it!! I'd start with all the strats. It's a shame gob irons (tin sandwiches) are made of metal and don't burn. Although I suppose if you chucked them in the six string devil inferno, they'd all melt.
