The start of the song Time on Dark Side of The Moon by Pink Floyd after the alarm clock and heart beat sound. The first instrument that plays. The ominous heavy bass part at the beginning. Sounds like a bass like synthesizer sound. Though I could be wrong. Is that a bass , synth, or guitar? And what is the specific instrument used: here's a link to the sound sample of time:

I seem to remember pictures of Roger Waters playing a Fender Precision Bass at those sessions, but he could've used something else. He and Gilmour both collected a ton of instruments.
And I wouldn't be surprized if the part was doubled or tripled (maybe bass & synth). I know the guitar has a few layers in the mix.
I'm sure there's at least one Floyd fanatic out there who knows exactly.

It sounds to me like mostly synthesizer, with maybe a bass guitar mixed in there as well, although it's inaudible or subliminal. There's also some very obvious guitar.
I recently watched a video about the making of DSOTM. There weren't any performance or studio scenes of that section, they did show them using a synthesizer for 'On the Run'. I don't remember what make or modle the synth was, but it had a small membrane keyboard and a few rotary knobs. No patch cords, I don't think. There's not much synthesizer on the album except for Time and On the Run, so maybe it's all the same

I think they were referring to it as the world's first sequencer.

Good call. It was a Fender Precision bass and VCS3 synthesizer and whatever guitar David was using. So it's a stack of all three.
