Was £3,700 paid in 1973 a good price for a Gibson Flying V from 1958?

Seems like a lot too me...?

I'm 95% certain that '73 was the year I tried (and failed) to raise £110 to buy a late fifties or early sixties (I think it was either a '59 or a '61) Gibson 330 that was in the window at Coventry Music Centre.

In 1974 I paid £150 or so for a brand new (but shop-soiled) Guild D35.

My fave in the auction was the '1950s' Gibson Les Paul which was a 1980s with a Kahler fitted (yuk) that we sold to him from Giffins in about 1986.

£3700 seems a lot for 1973. The following year I remember seeing Slashbone Wish at Peeortsmouth Guildhall and Andy Powell was using his one as a spare for his 1967.

I remember a 1959 standard in Rhodes music in about 1979 for £2600 and I thought they would never get that much!

Bernie Marsden was using his standard at Wembley as a spare and the Sid Poole as a main guitar.

I once missed a G-brand 6120 with a P90 in the front à la Eddie Cochran for £475 and a late 1960s Jazzmaster with tags for £195! But then I am getting old.......

I think I can honestly say that out of all the guitars I have ever played it was one of them.
