OK - you picked me up from the Tele comment.

Sorry, Phil, I'm a gibson man myself and never had time for fenders, My fault for generalising, I know, but I always take an opportunity to snipe!!!!

Actually, those amps ran so hot they could probably innite a Tele at 10 paces

At least the 'Vortex' came with a 'cage' to protect the valves. We had one for the PA .. it was our upgrade route from the Conk !! Came painted Pale Battleship Grey as I recall ....

That's coz they were designed for the Admirality and went on battleships as the PA. I think they were all that colour. I don't remember seeing one any other colour. They were pretty tough old amps.

I've seen gold ones, and I've seen a sort of silver 'Hammerite' finish ... (Call me Mr Gullible but) go on then ... why did you spray it orange?

I think the 'cage' for the RSC Linear Concord was an optional extra. IIRC the whole thing was also available cheaper in kit form?
