Hi.

I recently purchased a Prosound-3 Mic. when I plug it into my amp (Watson XA30 acoustic amp) in the Microphone input it is very sensitive. I.e.: very low volume on the amp (low being No1 on the dial) & it is still too loud.

is there anything I can put in line to reduce the sensitivity? the mic connection is the 3 pin variety.

TIA

Hi Steve. The Amp is fine, Ive had it for about 8mths now & I am quite happy with it. for a 30 watt it is very good. I find the wedge shape useful. when you tilt it back helps prevent people sat close from being deafend. ( sort of bounces the sound down off the ceiling )

I use it to play both my Crafter acoustic & an Epi Sheradon semi. I also use it as a P.A hence the mic problem. the Epi semi sounds fantastic, but the crafter is like you say, it is a little bit sharp not really acoustic.

Even better - get a matching transformer. You'll find you can get an XLR-to-jack converter that includes a matching transformer for a tenner or so IIRC (Maplin's again). Running low-impedance mikes into high-impedance inputs will definitely not give good results - apart from anything else, you'll find the EQ suffers - the mike will tend to sound dull and lifeless. Add a matching transfo and bongi - clarity returns.

It'll keep the wiring truly balanced, too - a passive XLR-jack adaptor just shorts one of the phases to deck.
