My Les Paul

Hello,

I purchased a Les Paul Delux in 1972 in a music store outside of Washington D.C. I played in several R&B bands during the 70's. I stopped playing for many years and only picked my my Les Paul every now and then. I recently got the itch again and started taking music lessons. I took the guitar to one of my sessions and my instructor was amazed at it. He said he thinks it is a 1958 standard that was reissured in the early 70's. My instructor stongly suggested I get it appraised and issured, which I plan to do. The serial number on the guitar is 684088. I tried to upload a couple of pictures of it, but I exceeded the file capacity. I am interestend in finding out as much as I can about the guitar, anyhing you can provide would be appreciated.

Thank you for contacting Gibson. This guitar appears to be consistent with the "Les Paul Standard '58" model which was introduced in 1971 and was listed in catalogs until 1973. The serial number you list would be consistent with the period of the early to mid '70's. This model commonly had the "GIBSON" name embossed on the pick-up covers. Thanks for your inquiry to Gibson.
