Eleven hours.

Yes, eleven hours.

I can't begin to express how ****ing angry I am with our pathetic 3rd- world quality rail network. Trains too full to take on passengers (especially ones with guitars), trains delayed by several hours *and* then re-routed to add to the delay, closed buffet cars, toilets that make Glastonbury look positively hygenic.

'Engineering works', apparently.

Bastards.

To top it all off, I had my bag nicked - clothes and personal effects, plus all my decent guitar cables and my two fx pedals...and I have a gig tomorrow night.

Sorry about that guys, I just needed to offload the crap stuff so I can talk elsewhere about the good bits, and there was certainly plenty of

What do you need pedal-wise? I have several I don't currently use, any of which I can slap in the post today if they're any use.

Jon, that is truly awful. I'm really sorry to hear that you had a terrible journey home. Although I had a long drive, it was just that. No hassles like those you suffered. I'd gladly lend you some leads, but by the time they got through the post they wuld probebly be too late for your gig.

Thank's Mike that's very generous of you, but I should be OK. I have a back up plan - a Yamaha multifx half rack unit that I use for recording - I just need to sit down and program in patches etc.

...shit, if Clive can pull off *that* after his pedal board wipes all his patches five minutes before going on, then I should be able to sort something out in 24 hours.

Sorry to hear that, Jon. That was my main reason for doing the one-day Saturday visit (thanks to the hospitality of the McKenna family). Apart from the fact I had too much work on Friday to make the trip, I just couldn't trust Virgin to get me back to London in less than 5 hours on the Sunday. GNER have never been perfect in the past, but I know Virgin are particularly flaky at the moment.

*Really* sorry to hear that. Was that while you were on the train?

My own fault, really. I was carrying so much gear that I simply forgot my rucksack and left it on the (Wigan to Manchester) train. I realised as soon as I got off, but it was too late and the train had left. The train does a local round trip so I waited for it to return, and then searched the train but no luck. It hadn't been handed in to the guard, so basically it looks like someone lifted it.

At least I'm insured though.

Bah! Doesn't do much for your faith in people, does it?

Phew! But it's still not nice when it happens.

Jon,

I'm really, really sorry to hear about that. Talk about a dampener on a great weekend. Genuine sympathies to you.

All the best,

Bastards. Sorry to hear it John , it's a lousy way to lose gear and a damper on what sounds a great weekend. Hope the insurance coughs up OK and you have fun shopping for replacements
