They did a similar thing to me - i bought a CD as a birthday present for someone and the delivery date showed 'december 6' from that date through to the 11th... i emailed them telling them it was a present and was late, and they refunded me the shipping.

As far as I am concerned Mike if I order something I expect it to be delivered on time or I will get the item from someone who will. I am even prepared to pay a bit extra to ensure delivery as stated.
I sympathize with Clive and I would be fuming also.
If I order by mail I try to ensure the retailer does not use Parcel Force, but that is another issue.
