I'm putting OT in here cause nobody really talks about Ringo's albums. Now I know, all you folks that talk about Milk And Honey, Gone Troppo, Broad St, you have all Ringo's LPs too. When I was 9, in 1966, not much compared with Yellow Submarine. It was a wonderful thing to hear that song come on, and my older friends used to tell me it was John singing. We all grew up with that wonderful voice, the one that got one song per LP. Then after the breakup, we got whole albums. It was a revelation to me that Ringo was the one singing. For me, Sentimental Journey turned me on to my parents music, and Beacoups Of Blues is one of the great underrated Beatle solo LPs, 'Ringo' is well, just the Ringo album. I'll admit the quality went down for a while, but there were still some gems here and there. I even like Bad Boy, I think it has lots of good songs, and I like one or two on Ringo The IV. I think that we are forgetting Ringo in here sometimes, so lets get us a Ringo thread goin, even if it is OT ;O)

I don't know about that. I think there aren't that many of us that have all of Ritchie's solo masterpieces <G>. However, I do, and there is more 'listenable' music there then one might expect. Old Wave is miles better than most of the 'Roses' disc, IMO, despite the absence of any other Fabs. And there are a couple of interesting things on Bad Boy & Rotogravure, amidst the dreck (Ringo's disco version of 'Where Did Our Love Go' could be a substitute for ipecac syrup). Ringo the 4th is possibly more painful listening than Two Virgins, however.
In recent years, Time Takes Time had some energy behind about half of the songs (the other half sounding like over-produced AC pop music), and Vertical Man was surprisingly fun (though his 'Love Me Do' must go down as one of the worst-ever Fab cover tunes). I was really looking forward to his Xmas disc, since it had VM's Mark Hudson twiddling the knobs, but he seems to have overindulged himself on that one. It's full of sickly sweet layered backing vocals, spoken word bits, and even the dreaded 'children's choir' on one track. As a holiday record, i think it's more suited to Halloween than
