Thank you for your remarks : on USB maybe there is an improvement with USB 2.0 as compared to USB 1.0. But David, have you found tone controls on your UA-5 ? I mean is it possible to filter on input or have you got to resort to the EQ of Cubase or Cakewalk to do this ? Also when playing back can you control tone without modifying the file itself ?

Thank you : I had seen the doucmentation on the UA-700 but this one is far too expensive if it it just for tone controls. I think I'll turn to the Extigy or even an Audigy Platinum Ex that both have tone controls.

Edirol states that their USB gubbins will only be guaranteed to work well with intel chipsets, they actually state that some chipsets will probably cause dropouts, (namely the perennial favourite, VIA)
