Hello all,
Ok, here's the deal: I started piecing a guitar together over the summer but never got it finished before uni started back, and hence, have only now got back around to finishing it off. I'm going to make the pick guard soon and I want to make sure I've got the two pickups right in the sweetspots.
So, it's a 25&1/2' scale, 22 fret neck. I've got two humbucker pickups to install.
Firstly, the neck pickup: I thought that the best place for a neck pickup was right under where the 24th fret would be, as it'd be over a harmonic point (or whatever they're called). However, I read somewhere that at a harmonic point some frequencies get cancelled out and the PU should be placed just off that point. Any ideas anyone? Should I line up the neck PU so that the 24th fret would be on the screw coil / slug coil / inbetween the two?
Are there any issues like this to be considered when placing the bridge pickup?
FWIW the pickups are seymour duncans: a Duncan Custom for the bridge and a Jazz in the neck.
any help greatly appreciated.
