I got one of these babies pretty cheap as a 'second' at a local store. Looked like it had some belt buckle rash on the back and one of the plastic pickup surrounds is cracked. What I didn't notice unfortunately is that one of the roller saddles in the tune-o-matic bridge wobbles back and forth side to side enough to actually snap back when you are picking notes and if you strum it makes an annoying buzz. What can I say, when I bought it I had 3 month old twins and wasn't getting enough sleep!

On the back of this thing it says 'S.I.C' yes that's correct only two periods. I looked at Stewart Macdonald and they have some Schaller roller bridges, I haven't double checked the dimensions but it's possible one of those would work OK. Only concern I had is that the post-holes don't come all the way through so the existing posts might be too tall - I think it'd be better if they sat on the thumbwheel disc.

Anyone upgraded an Artcore with roller bridge to something else? This model does have the trem bar soe I would like to stay with a roller type bridge.

Finally, Mr. Stupid again, when I slackened the strings of course the entire bridge came off the face - there are dust marks there I can line up and I know you're supposed to put the bridge between the points on the f-holes anyway - but one side of the tune o matic was raised higher than the other and I neglected to notice. Which side is typically higher?

Thanks,

Why not order a replacement from Ibanez? Does it look like this one?

http://6URL.com/EI6

That would be the Low E (6th string) side that's highest. If you try it the other way you'd quickly hear why... lol buzz buzzz frap...

Thanks for the info. That indeed does appear to be the piece. Now that I know the part # any idea of where I can actually get it? Web searching for Ibanez spare parts did not turn up anything obvious in that respect.

I'd try the dealer locator on their site for the nearest dealer to contact. Certainly they can handle ordering parts they don't carry and in this case it's not likely any of them stock much more than the guitars themselves but one never knows.

It just ocurred to me that you may be able to simply tighten the adjustments on that bridge and correct the wobbly roller. But you probably already gave that a shot. You can also put a small bit of double faced (scotch type) tape under it when you replace it to hold it in place when you next change strings, I haven't on my AF because I was concerned it might affect the tone but I'm thinking the thin tape would probablybe ok..

Actually the entire saddle pivots on the screw, as the 'shoulders' don't rest all the way down on the ledge. I was thinking of wedging something under there but also wanted to consider a more permanent fix for the issue.

Another thread I found via Google actually said that roller saddles cause more stress on the string than knife-edge, not sure I can say one way or the other theoretically speaking. Then there are the graphite saddles which you can just buy individually e.g. from Stew-Mac. Don't have a lot of time to experiment so I'm pursuing just replacing the original part.

You can order a replacement through guitarfetish.com. If you go on eBay they have a eBay store. Should be around $30 USD. I just bought one for my Gretch. They come in two post sizes so make sure you get the right one. Excellent quality and to me in 3 days USPS Priority Mail.
