Hi all -

Can anyone provide any information about the song 'Raunchy?' It's such a great tune (with a great rock'n'roll title)!

I know that George 'auditioned' for The Beatles with it, and that the Threetles play a little of it together on the Anthology DVD.

But - who wrote it? Who recorded it? Where can I get a copy? Is there guitar tab or chords available anywhere?

Bill Justis made 'Raunchy' the first instrumental number one in the rock era, in 1957. It's based on an old country song, 'Backwoods.' The guitarist is Sid Manker.

...or even 'Ranchee'? I've always got the impression that 'Raunchy' was just what Lennon called it.
