The number on the back of the power section says A59871. I was told it was a 71 or 72, But would like to be sure, If anyone knows I do thankyou.
After a quick websearch of "Fender Twin Reverb Date Code", I found a few interesting breakdowns of date and production codes, but couldn't decipher the number you have.
Do you have a picture of the label with this number? Are there other numbers on it? I ask because there are more tube reference numbers than production date codes.
If the number you have (A59871) is the code, then I'd agree it may be a '71, or some of the information I read could also say that it was built in the 17th week of '89 (if you read it backwards for amp models built after the '70s).
That's the best I can come up with, right now, but I have a few other sources I'll ask, too.
Thanks for trying to help out. I did alot of reserch on the net also and the other night I found a site that said, Check the numbers on the transformer. I did that and according to that number it is a 1973, Made in the 11th week. Now I don't know what to think. The guy I bought it from, Said it had to be a 71 or 72, Because he bought it new, When he also bought his Strat. I have known this guy all my life. But now I am confused about the year. if you can find out anymore, That would be great.
Thankyou for your time.
That number A59871, Is the only number on the back of the chassis. When I researched it, All I found was a site dating them this way as A2 and a number, Something like that, But no A alone.
while dating is not supposed to be as accurate with serial number as with date stamp on the label or EOI number on the transformer- the serial number you give is i think 1973
see bottom of this page
Thats what i thought it was also, I can't remember where I found the info anymore.
