Hi all, My Laney TF300 amp is behaving very strangely. Its been fine in the 2 years or so ive had it, but now things are going wrong. After being switched on for over 20 minutes or so, itll just fade in volume - gradually, like someones turning the volume down slowly (few seconds or so). Then you can play still, although its very quiet. The power light stays on, so I dont think the problems there.

Any ideas?

Matt

P.S This is urgent as I have a pub gig and a wedding gig coming up very soon! - - - - - - - - - - REPLY TO ADDRESS IS INVALID Please send replies to below address

Very common problem... the FX Return jack breaks the signal path when an FX is connected. The hot 'break' contact is dirty and needs cleaning.

Takes around 5 mins after removing the chassis. Use switch cleaner and an abrasive screw driver tip between the contacts to remove crud.

Back in biz in no time! Happens with all makes that use Cliff jack sockets. Have complained to them, but they don't care!

Cheers Stewart. By the time Jim Nugent re-directed me to your post (whilst in #UKMG) I'd got the chassis out and was fiddling trying to get the valve out to replace it.

Thanks! Youve save me a lot of hassle and inconvenience. Also thanks to Trev and Jim for some extra advice. CD lens cleaner fluid did the trick tastily!

Thanks again
