Ovido from guitar flame has posted some great guitar videos lately, inspiring me to spend a whole lot more time than I should on the YouTube treasure trove instead of getting on with my day.
I thought this Yngwie Malmsteen video was the epitome of a master guitar player the conversion of styles and instruments is amazing and the absolute control he has is uncanny.
He has been known to have said that the day Jimi Hendrix died Yngwie Malmsteen the guitarist was born, giving you the visual image of of Jimmy’s spirit jumping right into the body of this 7 year old Swedish boy.
I find that a bit pompous, since Jimmy Hendrix was a true original and one of a kind - and I don’t think anyone could replace him in anyway.
What might have happened though, is that another great influence on Malmsteen - Paganini - decided that the boy was potentially mad enough to embody his soul, so he jumped in… :-)
Just kidding of course, but if anything, I would say he is the reincarnation of Paganini and not of Hendrix. The Man is truly possessed.
Playing Purple haze…
I’ve got to admit that he knows his stuff, but nobody does purple haze like Jimmy (who was, by the way, like for a lot of people, my very first guitar love)
and the Origional. (to bad the recording is not up to par)
