Dear Guest:
I will need to know additional information;
1. What is the serial number to date the guitar?
2. What is the condition of the guitar; 98%, 95%, 90%, 80%, 70%, etc.
3. Are all parts and components original to the guitar as when it came from the factory?

Once I know the above I can give you an accurate value.

Regards,
kcbuck

Your Squier Super-Sonic by Fender per the serial number was made at the FujiGen Plant in Japan between the years of 1985 and 1986, which makes it a 1985 model year. I love the reversal that they utilized with the Super-Sonic's body and headstock - kinda unique and way cool looking, don't you think? Okay, now we know the value based upon the date of manufacture and the condition. The value is;
Mint (98%) Condition: $250.00 USD
Exc+ (95%) Condition: $200.00 USD
Exc (90%) Condition: $165.00 USD

The last MSRP for the Super-Sonic was $499.00 USD in the year 2000 when it was discontinued.

I listed the 3 condition values above as you didn't grade it as requested and because pictures can be very deceiving as to the actual eye balled condition. Squiers by Fender do not command a high resale value as they are Fender's lower end guitars but yours sure is a looker.

Hope this helps,
kcbuck

P.S. I believe the paint job and the color selection are after market and not original to the guitar per the colors listed that it was available in.

If you say so, I'm just going by what the Blue Book says and it is entirely possible that the color is original. Please pass the word about our fine site to your amigos and remember to pay the favor forward. Anytime you need some assistance we are here to help if we can.

What the hell happened here? None of that info was accurate. If you can get to this site, you should be able to get to a site called "Google". Google helps you find things. Things like Squier Super-Sonics. They were made in Japan for two years ('97-98), they were around two hundo new and now worth five to eight hundo. Great guitars. When my house was threatened by wildfires, It was the first thing I packed up. Not my most expensive guitar but it was my first 6 string and harder to replace than my others.

Mike:
The Super-Sonic is valued in Blue Book at:

Mint (98%) Condition: $250.00 USD
Exc+ (95%) Condition: $200.00 USD
Exc (90%) Condition: $165.00 USD

The last MSRP for the Super-Sonic was $499.00 USD in the year 2000 when it was discontinued.

My guitars are worth more to me than what Blue Book says too, but there is a base line on the values. I have a 1996 Fender MIM Traditional Stratocaster that Blue Books at $200.00 USD in Mint 98% Condition that I wouldn't sell for $500.00 USD. It's my go to guitar and the one I play most. I feel the same as you when it comes to my guitars.

I'll give you $350 right now for it. I was 12 years old and had worked mowing lawns all summer to buy this guitar in blue sparkle, but the day I walked in to the shop to buy it I saw a Japanese fender Strat on the wall used for a close price, my dad agreed to cover the difference if I got the strat and told me I could just come back and get the super sonic later after I saved again. Well, I did that and saved up for the supersonic, but when I came back to get it, they were all gone and I was broken hearted to learn that they weren't being made anymore so they couldn't order me one at the shop. I've searched everywhere for over half of my life (I'll be 30 in May) and everytime one shows up on eBay, I'm always outbid beyond my means or its a "buy it now" option with a price tag I can't afford ☹️

That "Blue Book" isn't to helpful. Regardless of what it says, these guitar go used for a minimum of $400, if you are really lucky you may find one for $350 on Craig's List. Cost of guitars are about supply, demand and popularity. They also weren't produced in the 80's at all. The Squire model was produced 1996—1998. In 2013 Fender re-vamped it and released it under their Pawnshop Series with updated pickups. Also, the Blue sparkle was in deed a color in the Squire SuperSonics. So toss that Blue book friend. =)

MDR88:
I'll stick to my printed reference resources. Value as always is indicative to what one is willing to pay and how badly they want it. Just because someone is asking $400.00 USD for this guitar on ebay, doesn't necessarily mean that this is what he/she will get. My guitars are worth more to me than what Blue Book says and I wouldn't let them go for those prices as I have them just the way I want them. Therefore, I will tend to agree with you up to a certain point.
Thanks for your opinion,

Paul,

Can you post a photo of your Supersonic?

I'd love to see it.

The model discontinued in the 2000's was the "pawn shop" and not worth what the original 90's version would be. They may have not done the sparkle blue in the 2000's but it was most definitely a stock color in the 90's guitars.
